This page explains the terms that apply when you use this website, make an enquiry, or engage with MRS Bookkeeping.

2. Scope of these terms

These Terms and Conditions apply to your use of this website and to general enquiries made through the website, by email, by telephone or by other contact routes.

They explain the general terms that apply before any specific client engagement is agreed.

If you become a client of MRS Bookkeeping, specific written scope, service terms, payment terms and other engagement terms may also apply. Those written engagement terms will normally take priority over general website wording for that specific piece of work.

3. Current AML and service status

MRS Bookkeeping is supervised by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) for anti-money laundering purposes and is separately registered with HMRC as a tax agent.

Alongside records organisation, bookkeeping readiness, practical admin support, education and clarity work, I also offer bookkeeping for client use, accounts preparation, payroll and PAYE administration, VAT return preparation, MTD submissions and tax return preparation. Formal tax advice remains outside the current service scope.

For more detail, please see the AML / Service Scope page.

4. General information only

The information on this website is provided for general information only.

Nothing on this website should be treated as tax advice, legal advice, investment advice, regulated financial advice, formal accountancy advice, or a substitute for advice from an appropriately qualified professional.

You should not rely on website content alone when making decisions about tax, legal obligations, business compliance, financial planning, accounts, VAT, payroll, Making Tax Digital or HMRC submissions.

If you need advice about your tax position, legal obligations, accounts, VAT, payroll, MTD submissions or other regulated matters, you should speak to an appropriately qualified and supervised professional.

5. No client relationship from browsing or enquiry

Visiting this website does not make you a client of MRS Bookkeeping.

Submitting a form, sending an email, making a telephone enquiry, or discussing a possible service does not create a client relationship.

No paid work starts without a clear written scope and agreed terms.

MRS Bookkeeping may decline an enquiry where the work requested is outside current service scope, outside professional competence, outside insurance cover, unsuitable or unavailable.

6. Written scope before paid work

Before paid work begins, MRS Bookkeeping will normally confirm the scope of work in writing.

That written scope may include:

  • what work is included;
  • what work is excluded;
  • what information or documents are needed;
  • how documents should be provided;
  • the price or pricing basis;
  • any deposit or payment terms;
  • expected timescales;
  • any cancellation or refund terms;
  • any service-specific limitations;
  • for payroll and PAYE work, the information and approval deadlines that apply;
  • any AML, identity-check or data-handling requirements.

You should check the written scope carefully before agreeing to proceed.

For current response times and communication commitments, please see the Service Level Statement.

7. Payments, cancellations and refunds

Where a paid service, digital product, consultation, membership, or fixed-fee package is offered, any specific cancellation, refund, payment and delivery terms will be provided before purchase or before work begins.

For some services or products bought online, by email, by telephone or otherwise at a distance, consumer cancellation rights may apply. Where these rights apply, MRS Bookkeeping will provide relevant cancellation information before the purchase or service starts.

Where a service begins before the end of any applicable cancellation period, you may be asked to confirm that you want the work to begin early and that you understand how this may affect cancellation and refund rights.

Where digital content, downloads, templates, guides or similar products are supplied, you may be asked to confirm that you want access before the end of any applicable cancellation period and that you understand how this may affect cancellation rights.

A separate Cancellation / Refund Policy may apply and should be read alongside these terms.

8. Confidential documents and secure handover

Please do not send bank statements, ID documents, tax records, payroll information or other confidential documents until I have confirmed the appropriate secure handover method.

If we decide to proceed with work that requires documents, MRS Bookkeeping will explain how records should be provided.

MRS Bookkeeping may delete, quarantine, refuse to process, or ask you to resend documents if they are sent through an unsuitable route or before a secure handover method has been agreed.

For more information about personal data, please see the Privacy Policy.

For more information about financial records, paperwork and digital files, please see the Data Handling / Client Records Notice.

9. Identity checks

As part of HMRC AML supervision, MRS Bookkeeping carries out appropriate identity and due diligence checks before providing services where these are required.

Being asked for ID does not mean you are suspected of doing anything wrong. It may simply be part of normal anti-money laundering compliance.

Please do not send ID documents unless MRS Bookkeeping has specifically asked for them and has confirmed the appropriate secure handover method.

10. Accuracy of website information

MRS Bookkeeping aims to keep website information accurate and up to date. However, information may change, and occasional errors, omissions or outdated statements may occur.

MRS Bookkeeping does not guarantee that all website content will always be complete, current or free from error.

If you notice anything that appears incorrect, unclear or out of date, please contact martin@mrsbookkeeping.co.uk (Contact page).

11. Availability of the website

MRS Bookkeeping aims to keep the website available and working properly, but access may occasionally be interrupted, restricted or unavailable.

This may happen because of maintenance, updates, technical issues, hosting problems, security issues or circumstances outside MRS Bookkeeping’s control.

MRS Bookkeeping is not responsible for losses arising from temporary website unavailability.

This website may include links to external websites, including official guidance, software providers, professional bodies, resources, articles or third-party services.

External links are provided for convenience only.

MRS Bookkeeping is not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability, security, privacy practices or policies of external websites.

A link to an external site does not mean MRS Bookkeeping endorses that site, service, product or organisation.

13. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the content on this website belongs to MRS Bookkeeping or is used with permission.

This includes text, page layouts, downloadable materials, guides, checklists, graphics, structure, branding and other original content.

You may view, print or download website content for your own personal or internal business use.

You must not copy, reproduce, adapt, republish, sell, distribute or exploit website content for commercial purposes without written permission from MRS Bookkeeping.

14. User-submitted information

If you submit information through a form, by email, or through another contact route, you are responsible for making sure the information you provide is accurate and lawful to share.

You should not submit information belonging to another person, business or organisation unless you have authority to do so.

You should not send confidential documents until MRS Bookkeeping has confirmed the appropriate secure handover method.

MRS Bookkeeping may rely on information you provide when deciding whether an enquiry is suitable, what scope may be appropriate, or what next step to suggest.

15. No guarantee of outcome

MRS Bookkeeping aims to provide practical, careful and professional support within the agreed scope of work.

However, no outcome is guaranteed.

MRS Bookkeeping cannot guarantee that missing records will be found, that third parties will provide requested information, that HMRC or another authority will accept any particular explanation, that an accountant will take on your work, or that a specific business, tax, compliance or financial result will follow.

Any work carried out will be limited to the agreed scope and current service boundaries.

16. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

Subject to that, MRS Bookkeeping is not responsible for:

  • decisions you make based only on general website information;
  • losses arising from incomplete, inaccurate or late information supplied by you or a third party;
  • losses arising from work that falls outside the agreed scope;
  • losses arising from your failure to seek appropriate tax, legal, accountancy or regulated financial advice where needed;
  • indirect or consequential losses;
  • loss of profit, revenue, goodwill, opportunity or anticipated savings, except where such loss cannot lawfully be excluded.

Where MRS Bookkeeping agrees to provide paid work, any service-specific liability terms may be set out in the written engagement terms.

17. Professional status

I am currently an AAT student member. MRS Bookkeeping is not currently an AAT licensed practice.

MRS Bookkeeping is supervised by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) for anti-money laundering purposes and is separately registered with HMRC as a tax agent.

This website will be updated when professional, regulatory or supervision status changes.

18. Complaints

If you are unhappy with a service, communication or interaction with MRS Bookkeeping, please raise the issue as soon as possible.

A separate Complaints Policy explains how complaints are handled.

19. Privacy and cookies

MRS Bookkeeping handles personal data in accordance with its Privacy Policy.

The website may use cookies or similar technologies. Please see the Cookie Policy for more information.

Please do not send confidential documents until MRS Bookkeeping has confirmed the appropriate secure handover method.

20. Changes to these terms

MRS Bookkeeping may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time.

Changes may be made because of service changes, legal or regulatory changes, AML status changes, professional status changes, website updates, payment changes, or changes in how services are delivered.

The version published on this website is the current version.

21. Governing law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes will be subject to the courts of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.
