Pricing Summary

This page gives you an indicative idea of pricing, and explains what’s currently available while HMRC AML approval is pending.

On this page:

1. Current service status

HMRC AML registration has been submitted and paid for and is currently awaiting confirmation. Confirmation is currently expected in the late July to early August 2026 timeframe, though this depends on HMRC’s processing time and is not guaranteed. MRS Bookkeeping is not a money service business, or a trust or company service provider, so HMRC’s own guidance confirms it can trade while that application is being processed.

Alongside records organisation, bookkeeping readiness, practical admin support, education and clarity work, I now also offer bookkeeping for client use, accounts preparation, VAT return preparation, MTD submissions and tax return preparation. Payroll services and formal tax advice will be added once AML supervision is confirmed.

For more detail, see the AML / Service Scope page.

2. How pricing works

The prices below are indicative starting points. What you’ll actually pay depends on the scope, volume, complexity, timescale and records involved.

No paid work starts without a clear written scope and agreed terms. Before work begins, I’ll normally confirm what’s included, what’s excluded, the price or pricing basis, any limits on volume, period, time or documents, any payment or deposit terms, what information or records I need, how documents should be provided, and any cancellation or refund terms.

Please don’t send bank statements, ID documents, tax records, payroll information or other confidential documents until I’ve confirmed the right secure handover method.

3. Available now

The following are available while HMRC AML approval is pending, as long as the work stays within my current scope.

3.1 Financial Record Rescue

Status: Available now
Indicative price: from £99

For sole traders, small businesses, landlords and community organisations whose records feel messy, scattered, incomplete or hard to make sense of.

Typically suits up to a year of records and around 300 transactions — bigger jobs are better suited to Paperwork to Plan below.

It’s designed to help work out what records you’ve got, what might be missing, and what the sensible next step is.

This might include:

  • sorting and structuring paperwork;
  • creating a simple document inventory;
  • spotting the obvious gaps;
  • organising records by year, type, account or another practical category;
  • helping you prepare for a better conversation with your accountant;
  • putting together a practical next-step plan.

Not currently included: payroll services and formal tax advice — these will be added once AML supervision is confirmed.

See the Financial Record Rescue page for full details and to make an enquiry.

3.2 Paperwork to Plan

Status: Available now
Indicative price: from £249

For bigger or more complex records-organisation jobs — multiple years of paperwork, larger volumes of documents, mixed paper and digital records, or unclear structures.

Typically suits up to 3 years of records and around 1,200 transactions.

The aim is to move a bigger records mess into a clearer, more structured position.

This might include:

  • broader sorting and document organisation;
  • grouping records across multiple periods;
  • spotting the obvious missing items;
  • creating a clearer records structure;
  • putting together a practical next-step plan.

Not currently included: payroll services and formal tax advice — these will be added once AML supervision is confirmed.

See the Paperwork to Plan page for full details.

3.3 Clarity / Next-Step Session

Status: Available now
Indicative price: from £60 per hour, or fixed price by agreement

For business owners who need help working out what to do next.

Useful if you feel stuck, overwhelmed, unsure what records matter, or unsure what information you need before speaking to an accountant.

This might include:

  • talking through the current situation;
  • identifying the most practical next step;
  • helping you understand what records or questions might matter;
  • helping you prepare for a better conversation with your accountant;
  • general education and clarity work.

Not currently included: tax advice, legal advice, investment advice, regulated financial advice, formal accountancy advice, or HMRC-facing compliance work.

See the Clarity / Next-Step Sessions page for full details.

Status: Available now, within current service boundaries
Indicative price: from £199 for a setup/familiarisation session

For people who want to manage their own records more confidently.

This might include:

  • basic records-organisation guidance;
  • a simple folder or spreadsheet structure;
  • good record-keeping habits;
  • education around what to keep and how to keep it;
  • practical admin support;
  • next-step planning.

Not currently included: payroll services and formal tax advice — these will be added once AML supervision is confirmed.

See the Self-Managed Records Support page for full details.

3.5 Barefoot Business Advisor Session

Status: Available now
Indicative price: from £250 (half-day)

A deeper strategic thinking-partner session for business owners who want to step back from the day-to-day and work through a specific challenge, decision or plan — not just records, but the wider shape of the business.

This might include:

  • working through a specific business problem or decision;
  • reviewing priorities, workload or direction;
  • practical next-step planning at a business-strategy level;
  • general education and clarity work.

3.6 DIY MTD Membership

Status: Available now
Indicative price: £19.95/month

This might include:

  • ongoing MTD-readiness education and updates;
  • practical records-organisation guidance on a recurring basis;
  • access to guides, checklists and resources as they’re produced;
  • general clarity and next-step support.

4. Now available: bookkeeping, accounts, VAT, MTD and tax return preparation

The following are now available, alongside the pending confirmation of full HMRC AML supervision, expected in the late July to early August 2026 timeframe (though this depends on HMRC’s processing time and is not guaranteed).

4.1 Ongoing Bookkeeping – Essentials

Status: Available now
Indicative price: from £49/month

The entry-level ongoing bookkeeping tier, for the simplest, lowest-volume sole trader accounts.

4.2 Ongoing Bookkeeping – Growth

Status: Available now
Indicative price: from £89/month

The mid-tier ongoing bookkeeping package, for growing sole traders and small businesses with more regular transaction volume.

4.3 Ongoing Bookkeeping – Clarity

Status: Available now
Indicative price: from £129/month

The fullest ongoing bookkeeping tier, for businesses wanting the most comprehensive level of regular support.

All three tiers are available now, within my professional competence, insurance position and agreed engagement terms.

4.4 Catch-up Bookkeeping

Status: Available now
Indicative price: from £60 per hour

For clients who need previous periods brought up to date.

4.5 MTD Readiness Package

Status: Available now
Indicative price: from £149

Meant to help sole traders and landlords prepare for Making Tax Digital requirements, including MTD submissions, transaction categorisation and bookkeeping for client use. Formal tax advice remains outside current scope until AML supervision is confirmed.

4.6 VAT returns, tax returns and accounts preparation

Status: Available now
Indicative price: scoped and quoted individually — see the Contact page to enquire

I now provide VAT return preparation, tax return preparation, accounts preparation and MTD submissions, within an agreed written scope and terms.

4.7 Payroll

Status: Not currently offered

I don’t currently provide payroll services. This will only be considered once the appropriate supervision, professional competence, insurance position and service terms are in place.

5. If you already have an accountant

You can still get in touch even if you already have an accountant.

Current services can help get your records into a clearer, more usable state before you speak with them — working out what you’ve got, what might be missing, what questions to ask, and what your accountant might need from you.

I don’t replace your accountant and won’t provide formal tax or accountancy advice while AML supervision is pending.

6. What affects price?

Pricing might depend on:

  • the number of months or years involved;
  • the volume of records;
  • whether records are paper, digital or mixed;
  • whether documents are already grouped or completely scattered;
  • whether records are missing;
  • whether deadlines are involved;
  • whether documents need scanning or indexing;
  • whether the work is simple records organisation or a more detailed next-step review;
  • whether a fixed-fee package or hourly work makes more sense.

If the work looks bigger or more complex than expected, I may suggest a revised scope, a staged approach, or a different next step.

7. Before work begins

Before any paid work begins:

  1. You make an enquiry.
  2. I review the situation.
  3. I might ask a few scoping questions.
  4. If it looks suitable, I provide a written scope and indicative price.
  5. No work starts until scope, price and terms are agreed.

Submitting an enquiry doesn’t create a client relationship.

8. Payments, cancellations and refunds

Payment, cancellation and refund terms will be confirmed before purchase or before work begins. For more information, see the Cancellation / Refund Policy.

9. Confidential documents

Please don’t send bank statements, ID documents, tax records, payroll information or other confidential documents until I’ve confirmed the right secure handover method. If documents are needed, I’ll explain how they should be provided.

For more information, see the Data Handling / Client Records Notice.
