Accessibility Statement

This page explains the steps MRS Bookkeeping takes to make the website easier to use and what to do if you find something difficult to access.

On this page:

1. Purpose of this statement

MRS Bookkeeping wants this website to be clear, practical and usable for as many people as possible.

The aim is to make the site easy to read, easy to navigate and easy to understand, especially for sole traders, small business owners and community organisations who may already feel overwhelmed by financial admin, records, deadlines or unclear information.

This statement explains the general approach to accessibility and what you can do if something on the website is difficult to use.

2. Business identity

MRS Bookkeeping is the trading name of Martin Richard Schmalenbach, operating as a sole trader.

Business address:

3. Accessibility approach

MRS Bookkeeping aims to make the website:

  • written in plain English wherever possible;
  • structured with clear headings;
  • readable on mobile, tablet and desktop screens;
  • navigable without unnecessary complexity;
  • understandable without specialist bookkeeping, tax or accounting knowledge;
  • clear about what services are currently available and what services are not yet available;
  • clear about what action a visitor should take next.

The website is intended to reduce confusion, not add to it.

4. Plain-English commitment

MRS Bookkeeping works with people who may be dealing with messy records, uncertainty, anxiety about MTD, or difficulty knowing where to start.

For that reason, website content should avoid unnecessary jargon and explain important boundaries in ordinary language.

Where technical terms are needed, the aim is to explain them clearly.

5. Neurodiversity-aware communication

MRS Bookkeeping aims to make communication practical and direct.

Where possible, pages should:

  • explain the purpose of the page near the top;
  • use clear headings;
  • break information into manageable sections;
  • avoid long, dense blocks of text where possible;
  • use direct next steps;
  • distinguish between what is available now and what has to wait;
  • avoid making visitors feel judged for having disorganised records.

The aim is to help visitors understand what matters, what does not matter yet, and what the next step is.

6. Current limitations

This website is still developing.

Some areas may not yet be as accessible, polished or easy to use as intended.

Possible limitations may include:

  • older pages that need rewriting or simplifying;
  • pages that contain more detail than some visitors need;
  • forms that may not yet be ideal for every user;
  • images that may need improved alternative text;
  • layout issues on some screen sizes;
  • cookie or plugin-generated text that may be less clear than the rest of the site;
  • downloadable materials that may need further accessibility review.

MRS Bookkeeping aims to improve these areas over time.

7. If you find something difficult to use

If you find any part of the website difficult to read, access, navigate or understand, please contact:

martin@mrsbookkeeping.co.uk (Contact page)

It would be helpful if you can say:

  • which page you were using;
  • what you were trying to do;
  • what made it difficult;
  • what device or browser you were using, if relevant;
  • what format or explanation would help.

You do not need to use technical language when reporting a problem.

8. Alternative formats

If you need information in a different format, please contact MRS Bookkeeping.

Where reasonably practical, information may be explained or provided in another way, such as:

  • a simpler written explanation;
  • an email summary;
  • a telephone explanation;
  • a different document format;
  • a clearer step-by-step version.

MRS Bookkeeping may not always be able to provide every format requested, but reasonable requests will be considered.

9. Forms and enquiries

If you have difficulty using a form on the website, you can email instead:

martin@mrsbookkeeping.co.uk (Contact page)

Please do not send bank statements, ID documents, tax records, payroll information or other confidential documents until I have confirmed the appropriate secure handover method.

If your enquiry requires documents, I will explain how they should be provided.

10. Accessibility and service boundaries

Accessibility is about making information and communication easier to use.

It does not change MRS Bookkeeping’s current service scope.

HMRC AML registration has been submitted and paid for and is currently awaiting confirmation. Confirmation is currently expected in the late July to early August 2026 timeframe, though this depends on HMRC’s processing time and is not guaranteed. MRS Bookkeeping is not a money service business, or a trust or company service provider, so HMRC’s own guidance confirms it can trade while that application is being processed.

Alongside records organisation, bookkeeping readiness, practical admin support, education and clarity work, MRS Bookkeeping now also offers bookkeeping for client use, accounts preparation, VAT return preparation, MTD submissions and tax return preparation. Payroll services and formal tax advice will be added once AML supervision is confirmed.

For more detail, please see the AML / Service Scope page.
