Paperwork to Plan

This page explains what Paperwork to Plan covers, who it suits, and how to take the first step.

On this page:

1. In plain English

Paperwork to Plan is for sole traders, small businesses and landlords with bigger or more complex records-organisation jobs than Financial Record Rescue is designed for.

It typically suits up to 3 years of records and around 1,200 transactions.

2. Who this might help

This may be a good fit if:

  • more than a year of records is involved;
  • records are spread across several places;
  • there’s a larger volume of paperwork;
  • paper and digital records are mixed together;
  • you need a clearer structure before speaking to an accountant;
  • you’re not ready for ongoing bookkeeping but need to regain control.

3. What’s included

I can help by:

  • creating a clearer structure out of a bigger records mess;
  • grouping records into practical categories;
  • spotting the obvious gaps or unclear areas;
  • putting together a practical next-step plan;
  • helping you work out what to do before asking for more formal bookkeeping, tax or accountancy support.

4. Not currently included

This particular service does not include payroll and PAYE administration or formal tax advice unless that work is separately agreed in writing. Ongoing bookkeeping, VAT return preparation, tax return preparation, accounts preparation and MTD submissions are now available; see the Services page for details.

5. Pricing

Indicative price: from £249. The actual price depends on the scope, volume, complexity, timescale and records involved. See the Pricing page for the full picture.

6. Current service status

MRS Bookkeeping is supervised by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) for anti-money laundering purposes and is separately registered with HMRC as a tax agent.

Alongside records organisation, bookkeeping-readiness, practical admin support, education and clarity work, MRS Bookkeeping offers bookkeeping for client use, accounts preparation, payroll and PAYE administration, VAT return preparation, MTD submissions and tax return preparation. Formal tax advice remains outside the current service scope.

For more detail, please see the AML / Service Scope page.

7. Before sending documents

Please do not send bank statements, ID documents, tax records, payroll information or other confidential documents until I have confirmed the appropriate secure handover method.

A short description of the situation is enough to begin. If documents are needed, I will explain what is needed and how they should be provided.

For more information, please see the Data Handling / Client Records Notice.

8. Before work begins

No paid work starts without a clear written scope and agreed terms.

Before paid work begins, I will normally confirm what is included, what is excluded, the price or pricing basis, any limits on volume, time, records or documents, expected timescales, what information or records are needed, how documents should be provided, and payment, cancellation or refund terms where relevant.

Submitting an enquiry does not create a client relationship.

9. What happens next

  1. I review your enquiry.
  2. I may ask a few scoping questions.
  3. If it looks suitable, I provide a written scope and indicative price.
  4. No work starts until scope, price and terms are agreed.
